AT91SAM ARM-based MCUs and eMPUs

Atmel AT91SAM 32-bit ARM® Flash MCUs and embedded MPUs are designed for system control, wired and wireless connectivity, user interface management, low power and ease of use. They have received wide acceptance in markets like POS terminals, security, building automation, industrial control, medical, white goods, PC and gaming peripherals, toys and cellular phone accessories.

AT91SAM 32-bit ARM-based Microcontrollers

Atmel has a proven track record as a market-leading ARM MCU and MPU vendor, a developer of high bandwidth architectures, an innovator of low-power microcontrollers, and a facilitator of software portability. A comprehensive and high-quality ecosystem provides access to development tools, Flash programming, software and worldwide technical support.

AT91SAM Flash MCUs

The AT91SAM Flash MCUs are based on the ARM7TDMI®, Cortex™-M3 and ARM926EJ™ processors, and start with Flash memory densities of 16k Bytes, migrating up to 512k Bytes, and operate at up to 200 MHz. A coherent set of peripherals facilitates reuse of software over the complete family. The utilization of DMA channels on the majority of peripherals optimizes the on-chip bus usage, freeing the processor for the application and increasing peripheral data transfer rates. Atmel set the reference for ARM7DMI-based Flash MCUs and introduced the first single-chip ARM926-based Flash MCU. Now we are rapidly expanding the SAM3 Cortex-M3-based family.

SAM9 ARM926-based embedded MPUs

Based on the ARM926 and with operating frequencies up to 400 MHz, the AT91SAM eMPUs are optimized for reduced system cost in industrial applications. The latest additions support second-generation Dual Data Rate DRAM (DDR2) and high-speed USB with on-chip Phy. The on-chip ROM enables system boot from DataFlash®, NAND Flash and SDCard in addition to the classic NOR Flash memory. Different cost/performance points and scalable third-party middleware products enable developers to implement user interface technologies, such as video playback and touchscreens, on embedded applications. All SAM9 devices come with a free Linux® distribution and Microsoft® Windows® Embedded CE BSP.
